About Acting Out Collaborative

Our Story

Acting Out Collaborative was born in the heart of Anacostia, Washington, D.C., a community rich in culture, creativity, and untapped potential. Growing up in Ward 8, we saw firsthand the lack of access to opportunities in industries like film and television. Acting Out was created to change that — to open doors where there were once barriers, and to give young people a real chance to build a future through creativity.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a pathway where passion meets opportunity. We believe every young person deserves access to meaningful work, mentorship, and the tools to succeed. Through film, media, and personal development, we aim to empower individuals to not only tell their stories but to shape their futures.

What We Do

Acting Out Collaborative operates as a workforce development initiative focused on preparing youth for real careers. Our programs combine hands-on training, mentorship, and life skills to support long-term success.

  • Acting Out Program: A film and television apprenticeship that provides real-world production experience.

  • Tuluv Program: A wellness and mentoring initiative focused on emotional regulation, personal growth, and career readiness.

Community Impact

We are committed to supporting at-risk and justice-impacted youth by providing safe, structured, and inspiring environments. Our work helps reduce barriers, build confidence, and create opportunities that lead to lasting change.

By connecting participants with industry professionals, practical experience, and supportive mentorship, we are helping shape a new generation of creators, leaders, and professionals.

Our Mission

To provide hands-on training, mentorship, and real career pathways in film and media - helping young people build stable, successful futures.
